Welcome, and a warm first hello to the newcomers!
I’m so happy you’re here.
This week, our poem-trio warms itself under the Sun, a tarot card that indicates when a new cycle of life is upon us.

CONCORD Today, I moved forward into my life, Loved the crooked maple tree that it is. (I feel at home holding a sharp chef’s knife: Sometimes, Life smiles and grants me the odd wish.) I got back on the dance floor that’s my home: The red tile, made so workers do not slip. They never missed a step, my twinkle-toes. My hands recalled their resume of gifts. I flowed, just like the water that I am, Into those quiet spaces, which require A fluid touch, swerving with altered plans: My hands, they can swoop in and quench the fire. Today was life-affirming, in its way: Some color is leaking into the gray.
GOLDEN-AGE What is a little hip-hop girl to do With all her curves and rhythm, all her light, With all her killer golden-age dance moves? When there is too much sadness in the news, As the sky in the world’s heart turns to night, What is a little hip-hop girl to do? Swift flight is the solution she can choose: Her silver-glitter-shoes will burn your eyes With all her killer golden-age dance moves. “What kind of an American are you?” Line in a movie, now a real-time fright. What is a little hip-hop girl to do? Outside the school that held the voting booth, A kid flew on the playground, raw delight, With all her killer golden-age dance moves. And when the concrete is remade, anew, As wood flooring that gleams under the lights, What is a little hip-hop girl to do With all her killer golden-age dance moves?
SAFE This place is safe: I don’t see danger here. No eyes are narrowed in my direction. My nervous system believes all is clear, Now that it has had some time to find calm. This place is safe: my mind can stay present. There is no need for dissociation. My spine is strong, no matter how it’s bent: I feel good taking life just as it comes. This place is safe: I think I want to stay. This is a house where I don’t get bullied, Where I can be my kindest every day: So vulnerable, yet, not made to bleed. This place is safe in the ways I require. I found a safe place. (Right under the wire.)
Safe ❤️
