My Neighbor Was Abducted by ICE

These Sunday posts normally focus on the broad themes of a single tarot card, but this week, I’m taking a break to address something very serious.

I’m proud to live in Somerville, Massachusetts, and recently a member of my community, who was here on a valid visa and committed no crime, was abducted by a group of plainclothes agents and transported over a thousand miles away to Louisiana. She was unable to be located for nearly 24 hours.

What happened to her is illegal.

I urge you to share this story with your friends and family, and to contact your local, state, and federal representatives to let them know that the disappearing of people who have a right to be in this country is not okay.

Somerville is a sanctuary city. If this can happen here, it can happen anywhere. Please look out for the safety of your neighbors. I know I’ll be keeping my eyes open.
