Welcome, and a warm first hello to the newcomers!
I’m so happy you’re here.
This week’s card is a misunderstood one. The Tower is visually intimidating, all blackened sky and falling figures. It shows how the world feels when the gods shake our personal Etch A Sketches and reset everything.
But reset buttons exist for a purpose.
Sometimes, the road to fresh start is a little bumpy, and that’s ok.

Routine
I looked up, and I saw high walls of rut
Rising on either side of me, enclosed
Above, no sky to be seen, no warm sun
To light the way; no warming, steady glow.
I had two daggers handy in my pack;
Earth-grip, I held the blades down to the dirt.
I hammered deep into walls, I attacked;
Sometimes, you have to do the thing that hurts.
A fist through crumbling roof, I earned the air;
Just one hand free, at first, and then the rest.
Sometimes the challenges just are not fair.
That doesn’t mean you get to skip the test.
When scars fade completely, it is the time
To separate what is yours and what’s mine.
Serpent
The serpent moves between the garden-rows;
It slithers here and there, all forking-tongue.
It tastes the air where the sweet berries grow;
When mice smell the serpent, little feet run.
She shines beneath the rays of setting blaze,
All thick ropes, coils of muscle memory.
She craves a stone where she can spend her days,
A boulder holding sun, for her, beneath.
Black as dilated pupils, her fine scales
Reveal nothing: is she poison or safe?
We all know that dead men tell no tales;
If you wish to approach, you trust your fate.
The serpent rests patiently in the dirt.
She’s curious: you here to fight, or flirt?
Heat
A single bead of sweat, born on my neck,
Trails one long finger, slowly, down my spine.
Each vertebra: a hill, a little test;
Each space between: a valley, so divine.
From whose hand does this finger branch away?
They stand out of sight, these eyes cannot see.
I feel their touch on melting summer days;
I do not have to seek, it comes to me.
I feel a shiver as the wind picks up;
A cool breath whispers softly in my ear:
“Oh, come with me, and sip the loving-cup,
There’s room right next to me. Oh, come, sit near.”
Breath in, breathe out, a small pause in between;
Assemble data, find out what it means.
Eyes To See
My hands are eyes to see in darkened rooms;
My lashes rest together on my cheeks.
There’s never been a tenant in my womb;
If I have my way, there won’t ever be.
My hands are toys for joy, they bring delight:
Ten-fingered songs, to play on blushing skin.
Sleep with me, so deeply, all through the night;
Rest up against me as the sun grows dim.
The morning sun will warm our dozing limbs,
Unrolling, like a carpet, at our feet.
My lashes part to allow the sun in;
You’ve been a magical creature to meet.
A softening pleasure-seeker, am I.
I turn to find a yearning, new sunrise.
Grumpy
Allow, allow loud thunder to ring out;
Let rain fall heavy to the beaten earth.
The birds will all still fly, they will not drown;
The rabbits play in mud, they love the dirt.
Yes, now, my friend! The time has come to pray;
We kneel on mossy logs with lowered heads.
We know the storm cannot rage hard all day;
We love it when it lives, and when it’s dead.
We rise again to our feet, and the sun
Sees us, and is reminded who she is.
She sweeps away the storm, our joyful one;
Yes, with our help, she has regained her gifts.
Oh, sing your song, you grumpy thunder-gods.
We are so strong. We’ve never been at odds.
Bubbles
The bubbles rise, seemingly from nowhere;
They crowd together as they seek surface.
Air travels through water; when it is there,
It knows that there are other worlds than this.
Expanding outward in all directions,
The bubbles join to form a common cause.
They pool, an oasis of connection,
And I can finally breathe, take a pause.
Two bubbles soar above the rest of them;
A spiraling dance, racing in joy-flight.
A new thing growing, some new life within;
Sweet man took me to see Rufus Wainwright.
The water’s not my home, it is the sky;
Do I have company for when I fly?

All my best,
I like the sonnets and the music was perfect to read them by!
