Sneak Preview: Zine Issue #2
Read some of the poetry you'll find in the next hand-stapled wonder.
Hi everyone!
Thanks for coming back, and welcome to the newcomers. Great to have you here!
This week, I pulled some of the poems from the second issue of The Lizzy Co Show zine to share with you. You can find issue #2 in the Ko-fi shop in the coming weeks, and if you live in the Boston area, ask your local record store or comic book shop if they want to carry some copies!
I hope you enjoy these poems. If you want some background music, try some electronic tracks made by The Lizzy Co Show. (Sneak preview within the sneak preview: there’s a new single called Sit Down that’s dropping soon. Whee!)
Let’s begin.
Step One
With unashamed hands,
Many works are possible.
Begin your opus.
On Encountering a Narcissist in the Wild
If they feel like home,
Remember home’s harmful ways.
Hit the bricks, my friend.
A Short Poem I Wrote During My Break at the Bakery
Your body is wise and wonderful.
Your eyes can see what they need.
If you don’t feel like a glorious tree,
Maybe it means you’re a seed.
Back in the Day
Long-ago people
Would see us as household gods.
Our lives are magic.
Pet Names
Call me a goddess
Before you call me baby.
There’s no baby here.
Unlit Candles
If you have calluses on your hands,
Come sit next to me.
If you have dust all around your eyes,
Rest with me and breathe.
If you feel sore on a rainy day
From breaking
That didn’t heal the right way,
Just take a seat with me,
We are unlit candles.
Bonus!
Crunchy leaves, falling leaves, all kinds of leaves. Best experienced with headphones.
Thank you for taking a moment to rest with me. If you enjoyed this post, please consider subscribing or telling a friend! Keep your eyes on the shop for the release of issue #2 of The Lizzy Co Show zine, and have a wonderful day!
All my best,
Lizzy Co
